Amigo Ranger made his local debut a winning one in Friday's $17,000 Open Trot on Friday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

Rene Allard took over the training duties for the five-year-old trotter last week. Following a third place finish with him at Yonkers, Allard brought Amigo Ranger (Amigo Hall) to the Spa for the Friday feature.

Drawing post position three, he went off as the race's 3-2 betting favorite with leading driver Billy Dobson in the sulky. Dobson blasted the public's choice out to the lead and despite fast early fractions had little difficultly securing an open length victory in 1:55.2. Pocket sitter Justa Rebel (Jim Devaux) finished second in the feature while Backstreet Hanover (Austin Siegelman) earned the show spot.
