Following a dominant spring while racing at Pompano Park, Godiva Seelster scored her first local victory of the harness racing season on Friday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
The five year old mare competed well at the Spa in 2014 and had been the runner up in three out of her four local tries this season heading into Friday night's $15,000 feature for distaff pacers.
Godiva Seelster (Camluck) flashed early speed to help overcome post position seven and got the pocket trip behind Keene Olivia (Billy Dobson).
Around the final turn, driver Wally Hennessey popped the pocket and the Dan Hennessey-trained Godiva Seelster rolled by to record the win in 1:54.1.
The 6-5 favorite in the betting on Friday, Godiva Seelster recorded victory number eight on the year and has now finished first or second in fourteen of her fifteen seasonal tries.
Weekend Getaway (Bruce Aldrich Jr) closed sharply to be the runner up to Godiva Seelster in Friday's feature while Delicisouslynaughty (Stephane Bouchard) earned the show spot.
Live racing continues on Saturday night at Saratoga with a 6:45pm first post.
