The trend was upwards on Thursday evening at the first session of the Swedish Breeders Association's Kriterium sale in Stockholm.

The average price was up by seven percent, to $21,993 and colts were especially in high demand. There was only one filly among the 10 most expensive yearlings sold; in fact the average price for fillies dropped 20 percent compared to last year.

The sales topper, Enkai Boko, sired by From Above, was sold for $123,500; his dam, Whincat Boko, is by Muscles Yankee and from the maternal family of the European trotting champion Brad de Veluwe.

The second-highest price, $108,000, was paid for the Muscle Hill colt Muchmoremuscles, out of Florence Broline -- she by Pine Chip.

The sale will continue this evening at 6 p.m, Stockholm -- or noon eastern time in the U.S. and is being streamed at , where the full catalogue and results are also posted.
