The trend was upwards on Thursday evening at the first session of the Swedish Breeders Association's Kriterium sale in Stockholm.
The average price was up by seven percent, to $21,993 and colts were especially in high demand. There was only one filly among the 10 most expensive yearlings sold; in fact the average price for fillies dropped 20 percent compared to last year.
The sales topper, Enkai Boko, sired by, was sold for $123,500; his dam, Whincat Boko, is by and from the maternal family of the European trotting champion Brad de Veluwe.
The second-highest price, $108,000, was paid for thecolt Muchmoremuscles, out of Florence Broline -- she by .
