Charlottetown, PE – Narragansett won the Saturday afternoon feature event, the Charles MacDonald Memorial, in 1:55 flat at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Driver engineered the winning trip placing the pacer in fourth position on route to the opening quarter (27.2) then drafted second over behind Machinthesand ( ) through the half way marker laid down by Big League ( ) in 56 seconds. Narragansett battled on the outside through the 1:25.2 third station before sprinting home for a two length victory for owner Foxyhall Racing Stable of Summerside. Machinthesand was second with Big League fading to third.
Rash B Havior, with in the bike, won the Louis McIsaac Memorial for the fans series presented by Meridian Farms. The time of the mile was 1:59.1. Cheverie, along with owner-trainer Michael Peters of Emyvale, was greeted in the winner’s circle by McIsaac’s wife Bernice and of Meridian Farms. Rash B Havior tracked down leader Charlotte’s Ace at the head of the lane and held off a fast closing Modern Girl for his second win of the season.
Abundaspin and won the open trot in 2:00.2 while driver guided Diamond Mine to a 2:04 score for Cindy MacDonald of Montague and Tanya MacKinnon of Souris in the other trot division.
