CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - The king of Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park continued his winning ways Saturday afternoon.
had five driving wins on card, including getting Pinner his sixth win in a row in the afternoon top class. The heavily favored Pinner went to front in the $2,200 event and laid down fractions of 29.3, 1:00.4, and 1:30.2 before closing in 28.3 for a 1:59 victory over Stayoutofmyaffair ( ) and McJestic ( ). Pinner is co-owner and trained by Brian Ladner with co-owners Lillian and Kevin Ladner, all of Charlottetown.
Campbell's other wins came with April Dawns Star (2:01.3), Rebelryan (2:02.2), Seawind Rianna (2:04.3) and Teddys Place (2:02.1). The day's performance gives Campbell 123 wins at Charlottetown for the year, just seven short of his all-time win record of 130, but there is only one card left on the calendar year.
Camcun captured the afternoon $1,750 back-up pace in 1:59.1 for trainer-driver, who co-owns with Dan Belliveau of Halifax. Second went to Kisser (Hughes) with McMaverick (Ken Murphy) third.
The race 9 Buck Barker retirement pace went to Capitalism and trainer-driver Hughes in 2:01.2 over Sterling Seelster (Campbell) and Painted Pony (). The four-year-old son of is owned by Jason Collings of Mount Stewart.
Dunmore Alpha scored in the $1,100 trot class in 2:06.3 over Honeymoonisover () and Incredible Her Bee (Campbell). The 10-year-old son of Black River is owned, trained and driven by Ted Smallwood of Stratford.
Hughes had three wins as a trainer-driver, while Arsenault had a pair of driving wins from his own stable. Total bet for the 13-dash program was $26,059. Live racing continues Tuesday night at 7 pm for New Year's Eve celebrations.
