Jason Hughes won the Red Mile feature with Capitalism

Charlottetown, PE – Capitalism wired the field to win the Sunday feature event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino.

Jason Hughes used rail control to his advantage as he sent the four-old son of Tell All to the front carving fractions of 28.3, 59.4 and 1:29.2 before cruising home in 29.3 seconds to stop the timer in 1:59 flat over the legendary CDP oval. McJestic (Brodie MacPhee) rallied for second with Tempo Seelster (Vince Poulton) completing the triactor. The 1-6-7 combination paid $81.00.

Hughes did the driving for owner Jason Collings of Mount Stewart. It was the fourth winner of the day from the Hughes stable. The Stratford native also nailed a driving triple with stable stars Isleofpalms (2:01.3), Blue Star Outlaw (1:59.1) and Bunny Mach (1:59.1).

Zip the Lip moved his winning streak up to four after beating his rivals in the open trot. Regular pilot Brian MacPhee left hard off the gate and took command of the race past the opening quarter. The trotter delivered as the post time favorite over Abundaspin and Majian Dillon for his 9th win from 26 seasonal starts. The time of the mile was 2:02.2

Marc Campbell recorded a driving double to reach five winners over the weekend.
