The Haythornthwaite's bring the largest team of horses with 12 entered. Some of their best chances are likely to come in the two and three-year-old races particularly for owner Claire Fletcher who runs 2 year old Porcelain Seelster and 3 year olds Lady Claire's Best and Sportstrick, all three have been in the places this year and will be looking to score some of the top prizemoney.
Local trainer Rhys Evans has 11 entrants including his two stable stars Fool Around and Saunders Mach 3 who will go head to head in the Free For All.
This feature event also has recent Wolverhampton winners Stamp Hill and No Regrets, Cilmeri Free For All winner Ideal Gift, the speedy Meadowbranch Josh, Stoneriggs Mystery who looked back on top form on his last run as Tir Prince clocking 1.56.5 and not forgetting Welsh Classic hero Infinately who makes his return to the track after a 23 month layoff.
A number of Scottish trainers make the long trip this year, the most notable being 3 year old colt Rewrite History. Up until York Championship day last weekend the Gilvear family's son of Sportwriter had an impressive unbeaten record from 7 starts. Without his conqueror from last weekend Titanium in the race it looks as though he could be back to winning ways.
As always a number of Irish contenders will make the journey and the Saturday handicap could well be their just rewards. Talavary Jewel was an impressive winner last time out at Portmarnock and looks to be the one to beat in heat one.
The Porterstown stables have an impressive strike rate at the meeting and they have Porterstown Chris as a top contender in heat 2. If both these horses make it into the final it could make a very interesting race from their front line draws.
Last year's winner Wellfield Ghost returns to try and retain his crown in the Sunday handicap. Owner/trainer Roy Sheedy has been having a successful season so far with his homebred stock and winning again here would be an impressive training achievement.
One things for sure the racing will be a highly competitive affair and a credit to the hard working committee. With under 48 hours ago to go until the first race gets underway and the horses are blazing round the sea side track the excitements building and we're all set for a fabulous Aberystwyth!
