Apprentice riders feature at Vincennes today in the Prix Yvonnix Bodin, a Group III monte worth 105,000 euros.
For handicappers, the first four home in the Group II Prix Paul Buquet at the end of November will be at the forefront of their minds.
's Rubis Dairpet, who will be ridden by Sebastien Emmanuel Pasquier, is the form horse and the early favourite for the race.
Equally adept in the bike of the saddle, the son of Kaiser Sozer is a late developer from the super competitive R generation, who has won a very respectable 22 wins from 82 starts with 18 of them from coming since he turned six.
In doing so he has earned 567,960 euros even though he is only just inside the top-20 of the French horses foaled in 2005, such is the money available throughout the entire careers of trotters in the Republique.
But his last six races have been under saddle and he has won three of them including his first group II, the aforementioned Prix Paul Buquet.
He followed that up with a second to Rapide du Digeon in the Group III Prix Auguste Francois a fortnight ago.
Thierry Raffegeau's fellow R-generation journeyman has won half as many races in one more attempts, with them equally dispersed over his career.
The gelded son of Urfist des Pres has nevertheless won just over half a million euros racing in a career which was spent mainly in the provinces until graduating to the lucrative intermediate classes at Vincennes as a seven-year-old. He will be ridden by Maxim Yvon.
Jean Baptiste Bossuet 's Ratio Thieben, who will be ridden by daughter Beatrice, is yet another from the R-generation and a gelded son ofwas third in the Prix Paul Buquet, and is another who doesn't win out of turn with just 12 victories in 88 starts. But handicappers will probably have taken into account the fact that he figures frequently among the placegetters (two thirds in his last four starts). A third of his wins occured this time last year, when he had four wins in five starts - two at Vincennes.
But perhaps the horse to take note of is the ride of Mathieu Daougabel, Torre Crepin, who has just completed his first season as an aged horse and looks like a horse on the rise.
A monte specialist, the six-year-old gelded son ofwon the group III Prix de l'Ile d'Oleron four starts back and has been fourth in his three starts since, all in good company.
The fourth horse, who is figuring in the early markets is yet another eight-year-old, Ryswick d'Avril a gelded son of Carpe Diem who is from the barn of Patrice Lebouteiller .
He was a last start winner and has two wins in his last four starts and will be ridden by Madamoiselle Marion Lemonnier.
