Charlottetown, PE -Harness racing driver Marc Campbell opened up the 2016 Drive for Charity with four winners including the feature race aboard Eagle Jolt Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The time of mile was 1:56.4.
Eagle Jolt, owned by Wilbur and Marie MacDonald, Orwell Cove, PE, used the passing lane to beat IDK (Vince Poulton) in the stretch. The Big Bite (Kenny Arsenault) was third. The 4-5-3 triactor paid $147.90.
Campbell's grand-slam also included scores with Vintage Winner, trotter Freddie and Howmac Missy. The two-time Gold Cup winning pilot is teaming up with MacRae Backhoe & Trucking in the Drive for Charity raising money for the IWK.
In other action, driver Vince Poulton and trainer Deanna Clow nailed the opening daily-double on the card with Sanchez Blue Chip and newcomer Professor Gordon. Campbell and Earl Watts also posted training doubles.
Former stakes star Paymenowpaymelater won the Advantage Communications trot for Gilles Barrieau and owner Wade Peconi, Stanchel, Pe.
Wager on the 11 dash program was $34,592.
