After the dust was settled in the opening quarter of :28, Gallant moved Motorino first over and chased down fraction setter IDK to take the feature race on the card in 1:56.2.
Gallant co-owns the black gelding by Brian P with Eric Johnston, it was one of two winners for trainer-driver Gallant who also won with Shady Kowalski for Johnston.
In the evenings trot class it was 'The Queen', J K Queen who laid down all the fractions (29.2, 59.1, 129.3) and was able to fend off the finishing kick from veteran Caliban Hanover for a half-a-length victory in 2: 03.1 for owners Norman Clarey and Joe Smallwood. Walter Cheverie handled the driving duties for trainer, Smallwood. J K Queen is by Nikes Image from the Direct Flight mare Jet Laag N.
Trainer Jackie Matheson and driver Corey MacPherson enjoyed a big Thursday night at Red Shores Charlottetown with a hat-trick from the Matheson stable, father Ronnie was in the bike aboard Artners In Crime and Perfect Escape well driver Macpherson picked up one of his three victories on the card aboard Matheson trainee Astronomical Union, he picked up a victory aboard Kendras Angel and his night got even sweeter picking up an Open Mares victory with his own trainee Brodys Leona.
