Charlottetown, PE – Outside The Wire was put right on the point by harness racing driver Gilles Barrieau and the duo held off challengers to win the Thursday night feature in 1:57.1 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell) was second with Perfect Escape (Marc Campbell) rallying for third.
Barrieau enjoyed a grand-slam with four winners on the night. The NB driver is racking up the victories as he teams up with MacQuarrie's Meats in the annual Drive for Charity promotion to raise money for the local food bank. The campaign continues until the end of the month.
Diamond Mine streaked to victory in the opening trot class for driver Willie Murphy, trainer Cindy MacDonald and her co- owner Tanya MacKinnon, Souris, PE. The other trot challenge went to Neal in a dazzling performance for driver Brian Andrew and co-owner William Andrew, Calgary, PE
Painted Desert (6/1) matched the fastest trip of the night for pilot Mark Bradley. It was the second winner of the night for Bradley who was driving for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Perry Burke
Marc Campbell also recorded a driving double on the program. Frank Banks had a training double.
