Waterside Light, with Kenny Arsenault in the bike, marched to the front and held on to win the Thursday harness racing feature event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Waterside Light touched down on the lead on route to the opening panel in 28,3 with the half reached in 58.1. The pacer cruised by the three-quarters in 1:28.1 to notch his third win of the campaign in 1:57.3 for owners Larry and Kathy Chappell, Marshfield, PE.
It was Arsenault's third winner of the night for the hat-trick. The Charlottetown native drove Frill Seeker to top honours in the open trot in a dazzling 2:00.2 in gate to wire fashion. The bay gelding, owned by the Ebbsfleet Stables, Stratford, Ontario, has back to back victories. Lukes Cowboy was also a winner from the Arsenault stable.
Former stakes star Tyne Valley took her assignment in the trot class for driver Walter Cheverie, trainer William Roloson and his co-owners Scott Roloson and Kristi Pickering.
It was a memorable night for Ryan Desroche. The 18 year-old won his first lifetime start as a driver aboard Onehotvett for owner Tammy Collings, Hazelbrook, PE and trainer Austin Sorrie.
Mark Bradley recorded a driving double on the card.
Racing returns Saturday at 6pm. Red Shores Summerside will kick-off the 2016 harness racing season Monday. Post time is 1pm.
