Charlottetown, PE – Ramblinglily will headline the mares open presented by the Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Saturday during the 13 dash harness racing program at Red shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Post time is 6pm.
Walter Cheverie is listed to drive the six-year-old mare who has 11 wins from 13 starts this season for trainer Allan Jones and his co-owner Norman Leger, Shediac, NB. The duo will leave from post 2 and could employ front end tactics to control the outcome. The pacing star is surrounded by a pair of Jackie Matheson trainees on the starting gate with General Luckypercy, owned by Jody Lynn Matheson, off the rail for Ron Matheson while For All We Know, driven by Gary Chappell, blasts from post 3 for owner Bruce Wood, Marshfield, PE.
The all-star line-up also includes Yankee No More, Rose Valley, Stayoutofmyaffair and Best Risque.
Cheverie has another live drive in the co-feature in race 12 when he handles back to back winner Forever Paradise for ownership group of Reg MacPherson, David and Aaron MacKenzie. The son of Western Paradise stopped the timer in 1:57.1 in his last start closing in 28.3 seconds to seal the deal. McJestic, trained by Troy Murray, Cornwall, and Perfect Escape, are also triactor candidates.
Summerside, PE – Athletic Putnam has the rail and the top choice by race analyst Jared Stretch in the Sunday feature at Red Shores Summerside. Post time is 1pm.
"The way he's been rolling this summer it's hard to leave him out of any race let alone the rail with Cheverie at the helm," said Stretch. Athletic Putnam was fifth in his last assignment and race timed in 2:00.2. He's owned by trainer Paul Biggar, Tyne Valley and Don Callbeck, Kensington, PE. The Summerside race analyst has listed Minor Wisdon and Cambest Kisser as top three contenders in the match-up. Outside the Wire, Smiley Bayama, Lucky Encounter and J Rs Hurricane complete the field.
In other action, Walbert, who has been outside the top two in his last six starts, is back to go in race 10 for owner Ashley Gamester and driver Jason Hughes. The stratford native also has a shot to take the trot class when he drives Phoenician for Buntainwood Farm in Brackley, PE and trainer Nicholas Oakes.
Sportsonthebeach, a three-year-old Sportswriter filly, makes her Island debut in race 7 for trainer Blaine McKenna.
