Hidden Land crossed the finish line faster than any harness racing female in the history of Northfield Park when she won the $13,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace in 1:51.4 on Friday (October 2). The clocking formally broke the 1:52 four year-old pacing mare record by Lease Ness Monster (Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.) set earlier this year.
The partnership of William Sartin and Mark Salerno owns Hidden Land. Brad Irvine is her conditioner and Don Irvine, Jr. was in the sulky for the winning drive.
Hidden Land (Badlands Hanover-Armbro Ocasey-Abercrombie) started from post eight. She led her competition through fractions of :26.4, :55.3, 1:23.4 and 1:51.4. There was never really an anxious moment for the winner, who bested her competition by 2 ½-lengths.
Hidden Land now has four wins in 28 starts this year. Friday’s victory represents her ninth career score and bolstered her bankroll to $89,157. She returned $18.00 to win.
