Georgian Downs and the Ontario Harness Horse Association reached an agreement in principle last night after two full days of mediation talks, and if the agreement is ratified racing will resume at Georgian on March 10.

"We're eager to resume live racing as quickly as possible for the good of our customers, our staff and the horsepeople that race at Georgian Downs," Chris Roberts, director of operations at Georgian, said in a release today.

"We've got some serious work to do in mending fences with our customers and with each other. We're just happy to put this dispute behind us and get on with what we do best."

The 'Agreement in Principle' still requires ratification by OHHA membership. A meeting to hold a ratification vote has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.

"From the outset OHHA has stayed united in their fight for a fair deal and I am happy to say that I believe this has been achieved," said OHHA president Jim Whelan. "I am proud of our members' actions and determination throughout this entire matter but it is now time to move forward."

Details of the agreement were not immediately available.
