God Forbid N registered her second straight victory at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono Tuesday night, kicking home with a wicked personal last half of 53.2 to take the $15,500 featured pace for harness racing mares while establishing a new mark of 1:50.1.
The daughter of Elsu followed the lively backstretch cover of Scandalicious as that one went first-over after early splits of 26.4 and 56, then was left uncovered when Scandalicious was able to get around pacesetting Sayitall BB, a Breeders Crown winner at three, to the 1:23 3/4 pole.
Driver Andrew McCarthy, like the mare a Down Under "import" (although he comes from the other side of the Tasman Sea, in Australia), then asked for more from God Forbid N, and his charge soon drew up to Scandalicious, then convincingly outkicked her through the lane by 2¼ lengths to give McCarthy his third sulky success of the night. Trainer Aaron Lambert co-owns the winner, now 3 for 6 since coming to this country, with Kenneth Tucci and Kenneth Schwartz, and off her two Pocono showings, the sky's the limit for the talented God Forbid N.
George Napolitano Jr. won races 11 and 14 to give him three wins on Tuesday night, and 16 for the four-day racing week at Pocono (5 Saturday and Monday, 3 Sunday and Tuesday). He also had 4 at Philly Saturday afternoon and 3 there Sunday afternoon, for 23 sulky victories in the four-day stretch between the two tracks 100 miles apart on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
