Smart four year old Dawn Ofa New Day/Our Madame gelding Daylight Dan resumed with an impressive victory in the Campaspe Valley Motors Pace for C0 class over 1755 metres at the Gunbower Harness Racing Club fixture held at Echuca on Tuesday December 18.

Trained and driven by Mildura based Geoff Lucas, Daylight Dan ran some terrific races in his three year old season (winning three) suggesting he had a future and judging by the performance on Tuesday certainly has.

Starting from gate three on the second line, Daylight Dan first up since August possied three back in the moving line, with Isntshesomething leading from barrier three.

Setting off three wide solo at the bell, Daylight Dan sustained a long run to gain the day by 5.8 metres in advance of the pacemaker, with Star Of Paris third after following the winner home.

Another promising four year old in Robbie Zuve, a gelded son of Zooma and Party Lights trained and driven by Echuca's Gavin Blake was an easy winner of the Scherubl Family Trotters Handicap for T0 or better class over 2530 metres.

Although out of the draw, Robbie Zuve stepped safely from up the track (only two on the front line) to lead and allowed to bowl, ran his rivals ragged, accounting for Dabbsey which trailed by 15.9 metres in a rate of 2-08, with Silver Memory a stablemate of the runner up third off a one/one trip.

Kyabram trainer Mick Blackmore combined with Shepparton's Nathan Jack to snare the Brian & Lyn Wills Santa Claus Pace for C3 & C4 class over 2160 metres with 6-Y-0 D M Dilinger/Nic Kell Rose mare Bevstuanmarylou in a rate of 2-01.6. Taking advantage of a mares concession, Bevstuanmarylou led throughout from the pole to score from Hes Real which trailed and Pieces Of A Dream which followed the pair.

Doreen's Craig Turnbull took advantage of a concession for Shepparton's David Moran to capture the Joe Newitt's Service Centre Pace for C1 class over 1755 metres with 6-Y-0 Live Or Die/Hawaiian Gigi gelding Kohala.

Given the run of the race one/one from gate two on the second line, Kohala when eased wide on straightening, ran home strongly to blouse a death seating Woke Up Tired and Margots Magic which led in a mile rate of 2-02.8.

Elmore trainer Keith Cotchin landed the quinella in the Haueslers/John Deere Pace Final for C0 class which qualified in the heats held at the Wangaratta meeting at Shepparton 11 days earlier with Lord Raptor defeating Chiquita Bromac in a rate of 2-01.2.

Driven by Greg Sugars, Lord Raptor a 4-Y-0 Falcon Seelster/Mumas Little Girl gelding led throughout from gate three to score by a half neck only, with Miss Ruthless 13.6 metres away in third place after being three back along the markers.
