Wangaratta Cup winner Mister Anthony spearheads former South Australian harness racing trainer Geoff Webster's four horse raid on the Gawler Harness Racing Club's Gold Cup meeting at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Webster has a strong team of three pacers and one trotter making the trip to Globe Derby with a $5000 Trainers Bonus for any trainer who manages to train three winners on this Saturday night's nine race card well in his sights.

The $25,000 GHRC Gawler Gold Cup raced over the 2645m distance is the feature race on the program and it has drawn together a top class field.

Webster has enjoyed continued success in recent trips back to his home state in many of the feature races. He has prepared the past two South Australian Cup winners in Mister Swinger (2009) and Mister Zion (2010) and on Saturday night he attempts to add the Gawler Gold Cup to his list of achievements with Mister Anthony who has come up with an outside barrier draw for the race.

A tough pacer Mister Anthony (by Life Sign) has won 12 races and been placed five times from just 28 starts and is not far behind the very best horses in Victoria, according to his trainer.

"He is as good as any of these in the Cup field it is just unfortunate to have drawn the outside of the second row," Webster said.

Mister Anthony won the Wangaratta Cup two starts back when driven by another former South Australian in Greg Sugars then wasn't disgraced at his next run after copping some mid race pressure. But in the Gold Cup, Mister Anthony is going to have to do his fair share of work to take the top honors.

Webster believes that although his charge is better in front he is very adaptable and will be able to feature prominently even if he is made to work.

Mister Anthony will be presented with some tough competition in the Cup including another interstate challenger, Shardons Rocket from the astute Kerryn Manning stable drawing barrier five.

Locally trained Longtan Safari and Ryans Journey have drawn gates four and eight respectively while last years Gawler Gold Cup winner Conte De Cristo has drawn wide on the front line in barrier six.

Conte de Cristo has abundant gate speed and his driver will be looking to take up a forward position and giving the main chances behind him something to chase down.

Webster is one of few trainers that have a chance to claim the $5000 GHRC trainers bonus with four strong chances in four of the five feature events.

Webster is confident that if everything goes to plan with the stables two-year-old Dee Devito and star trotter Milburn Michael it will be up to Mister Anthony to present him with a training treble and the $5000 bonus.

Webster talked up his chances in the 2010 Domenic Virgara Memorial 2Y0 Classic with Dee Devito. The trainer believes the youngster has the gate speed to find the front and run away with an all the way victory in a race that he is very passionate about winning.

Dee Devito will be begin from barrier three and will be wearing the Domenic Virgara colours of ‘Orange with a White V' as Webster was very close to Domenic himself and has always wanted to come over and win the race in his honour.

Milburn Michael is a new addition to the Geoff Webster stable having had a win and a second from as many starts since arriving from New Zealand. Milburn Michael will start from a 10 metre handicap but will be the clear pick for most punters in The 2010 Podiatry Care Hambletonian Trot after last weeks impressive win in sub 2.00 minutes for the last mile over the 2760m journey.

The best local trotter Saybia will start from the front line and if he can do everything right he will give the favoured interstate runners including Millburn Michael and recent Inter Dominion series competitor Dream A Moment something to run down.

Websters fourthstarter, Hustlers Crown will line up in 2010 Galwer South Bakery Gawler Derby in an event where local star Jacks On The Rocks is looking to fly the flag for SA on an action packed nine race card.

The first race on the Gawler Gold Cup cardcommences at 5:50pm.
