CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After a power move up the backside in his seasonal debut, Rose Run Quest is pegged for top status in the Saturday evening's harness racing preferred pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Saturday evening has 11-dashes on tap with a 6 P.M. start time. Last year's Guardian Gold Cup and Saucer finalist Rose Run Quest will leave from post 5 in the race 10 featured pace with a $2,900 purse at stake. After capturing last week's preferred event in his first start of 2019, Rose Run Quest will have five able rivals in his bid to return to the winner's circle. Euchred sports two wins and second from just three starts this season but is shouldered with post 6 for trainer-driver David Dowling. Doctor Royal was the one to beat in this class the first two weeks of the season but took a week off after finishing fifth on May 18. Gilles Barrieau will drive Doctor Royal for Truro, N.S., trainer Dawn Ellis Abbott.
Back-class is what race analyst Les MacIsaac will pin his selection on as he takes Rose Run Quest to win.
"Rose Run Quest hit another gear up the backstretch last week and never looked back in winning his seasonal debut," MacIsaac said. "You got to think he would only get better which is scary for his rivals. He's the one to knock off."
Rounding out the field is Mick Dundee (Driven by Don MacNeill), Revenant (Adam Merner) and IC True Grit (Mike McGuigan).
The freshly minted rivalry resumes Saturday evening in the $2,800 Fillies and Mares Open pace in race 8 which will be part of the Drive For Home Series presented by Hillside Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. Sodwana Bay was dominant in 2018 in the Open Mare's ranks but Innocent Kiss unloaded a devastating final quarter last week to find the top prize. Innocent Kiss (Merner) will have rail control for trainer Melissa Rennie while Sodwana Bay has post 4 for trainer-driver Barrieau. Also in the field is former Open Mare champion Ramblinglily who ships in from New Brunswick after winning his seasonal debut in the top class at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia. Marc Campbell picks up the catch drive behind the Allan Jones trained winner of $190,000 lifetime.

Fastest Sophomore Takes On Red Shores Summerside Top Class
SUMMERSIDE, PE – Carlisimo cemented his status as the quickest three-year-old pacer on the Eastern Seaboard last week and now faces off with the top pacers in the Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The 10-dash program kicks off at 1 P.M. with Carlisimo teaming up with Marc Campbell in the race 9 top event carrying a $2,700 purse. The Kevin MacLean trained Carlisimo rides a two-race win streak into the event and draws post 3 for owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford. The son of Shadow Play captured his Bob Dewar memorial division in 1:56.2 last Sunday with Campbell aboard but now advances to some iron tough aged company. Free-For-All pacer Adkins Hanover is part of that company as he will leave from post 4 with Ambyr Campbell at the helm for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Perry Burke of Grosse-Ile., Que. With three on the board finishes in his last three tries, Adkins Hanover shows the quickest time on his program with a 1:55.3 mile in his latest.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac will give the nod to Carlisimo to knock off his aged competitors.
"Carlisimo has won three of four since the change of address and has already faced aged horses so exiting the stakes scene shouldn't pose a problem," MacIsaac said. "Looks like the road to the winners circle goes through him."
Also in the compact field of five is Heza Workof Art (Driven by Mike McGuigan), Mando Fun (Dale Spence) and Soccer Hanover (Corey MacPherson).
The back-up class goes to the gate in the race 10 finale with eight entrants vying for a $2,200 purse. Veteran pacer Eagle Jolt will have to overcome post 8 to find the winner's circle for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Stratford. Twice As Bright has been undefeated so far this season with three straight 2019 wins and gets a better spot in post 3 with David Dowling aboard for trainer Elton Millar.
