The talented Mark Purdon trainer three-year-old Gotta Go Yanky, was an impressive winner at today's Marlborough harness racing meeting at Waterlea, easily accounting for his seven rivals.

After settling down in fourth position, the son of American Ideal was then asked to range up to the parked position by reinsman Blair Orange, and from there he never looked in doubt, racing away for an untouched 1 & ¼ length victory.

Outsiders Revell Yell and I'm Bettor snuck into second and third positions, while second and third favourites Scotlynn Jiggs and Comenche, disappointed finishing last and second to last.

It was Gotta Go Yanky's third win from as many starts, and if that isn't impressive enough for you, he is also unbeaten at the trials and workouts. His total tally stands at seven public appearances for seven wins.

Gotta Go Yanky was one of three winners for the combination of Mark Purdon and Blair Orange. Their other winners were Go Diego and Beau Vite.

The quickest time and biggest margin of the day went to the Greg & Nina Hope trained Helena Jet (Jereme's Jet) who clocked a very tidy 2-54.1 for the 2300m, and streeted her rivals by nine lengths. While the biggest dividend of the day was Thanksforplaying, who for the first time in her seven start career didn't make a mistake at got home at odds of $71.30
