The 1985 New Zealand Oaks winner Chipaluck was a shy breeder and only had four foals in 16 years, but one of them, Chipalong has become the dam of Levi Lowe, winner of the final heat of the Forbury Park graduation series tonight (18 June).
While Chipaluck won nine races, Chipalong scored just once, at Forbury Park in January, 1993. She was prepared for the win by Charles McDonald and driven by Kirk Larsen who trained and drove Levi Lowe tonight.
Before Levi Lowe, Chipalong left Rushmore, a son of. Larsen trained and drove Rushmore to two wins from three starts before he was sold to Australia.
Both Rushmore and Levi Lowe were bred by Mataura valley father-and-son dairy farmers Paul and Brendon Duffy and they still race Levi Lowe.
Captain Bromac, made it back to back wins at Forbury Park when he took out the Forbury Sports Bar Handicap in the hands of his co-trainer Paul Court. Before his brace of wins, the full brother to sub-1:49 miler, had gone 16 races without success. Overall, he has won five times in 24 starts.
Three-year-old Pegasus Falcon has yet to grace the metropolitan tracks with his presence but has compiled a useful record of three wins from nine starts. This, following his victory at Forbury Park tonight. His other wins have been ay Greymouth while Manawatu and Forbury Park are the only other places he has raced.
