More than 60 percent of the dams represented in this year’s Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale on Sunday, March 22 are race-winning mares and 53 percent are winner-producing mares.
Of the 91 lots catalogued, 54 are out of race winners – including 38 sub 2:00 winners – while 48 of the dams are winner-producers and they have left 116 individual winners of 689 races between them.
Among the race-winning dams are the Group and Listed winners are the NSW Sires Stakes champions Kyalla Mary and La Saint, the Oaks winners Chip And Gale 1:52.6 ($563,343) and Second Dollar, Speriamo (Redcliffe 2YO Sale Classic), Merrywood Ruby (NSW Breeders Challenge 2YO Regional Final), Our Ladylight (Vic. Harness Breeders 3YO Classic), Icy River (Bathurst Sale Graduate Pace), Light In Every Day (SA Ladyship Stakes) and the $100,000
winners Listen To The Rhythm, Annie Morva, Gloria Lombo and Bold Life.
The dams listed in the catalogue have left Group winners such as the dual Vicbred champion, Derby winner and 3YO of the Year Maffioso, Distant Memory (Bathurst Gold Tiara and Vicbred 2YO Final), No Ah Saint (NSW Breeders Challenge 2YO Final), the NZ Sires
Stakes 3YO champion My Willow and Courageousnquick (NSW Pink Bonnet and Vic.Sapling).
Other ‘black type’ performers include Saint William 1:51.2 ($798,759), Call Her Julie (SA Golden Nursery and Tas. George Johnson), the NSW Breeders Challenge 2YO Regional Final winners Lord Merrywood and Merrywood Ruby, Lombo Leonardo (Tas. Youthful), Our Sam’s Home (Bathurst Sale Graduate Pace) and Call Me Hector (Tas. Golden Mile).
All catalogued yearlings are eligible for the Bathurst Sale Graduate Pace with heats and finals for colts and fillies to be conducted in April 2021. They are also eligible for the Bathurst Gold Crown, Breeders Crown and Sires Stakes schemes in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.
