YONKERS, NY, Thursday, March 20, 2014--The iconic New York Daily News Golden Gloves, perhaps the best-known amateur boxing competition in the world, returns to Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway Wednesday night, April 2. It's the fourth year in a row Yonkers Raceway has hosted the Golden Gloves.

The card, featuring men and women in both championship and semifinal bouts, is to be held on the Casino's fourth floor. Doors open at 6:15 PM and first bell is at 7:30 PM sharp.

General Admission tickets are $25, with police, firefighters, senior citizens, students and children under 14 (each with proper ID) admitted for $15

Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis only at the door on fight night.

"We are delighted that the Daily News Golden Gloves has fast become a tradition at Yonkers Raceway," Raceway President & CEO Timothy J. Rooney said. "Two New York institutions are once again teaming up for what we know will be an exciting evening of boxing for fight fans."

Past champions of the Golden Gloves include Sugar Ray Robinson, Emile Griffith, Floyd Patterson, Riddick Bowe, Gerry Cooney, Mark Breland, Jose Torres, and Zab Judah.
