This time last year harness racing driver Ashlee Grives won a Semi-Final of the Breeders Crown with Ameretto.
Wind the clock forward and the pair are aiming at Victorian riches again, this time in Saturday night's Group Three Breeders Crown Graduate Mares Free-For-All at Bendigo.
Drawn wide in barrier seven for the $30,000 feature, Ameretto is the third elect with TAB Fixed Odds at $6.
And despite hardly finishing out of the money throughout her career, the Million Dollar Cam mare produced one of the best runs to date to win at Tabcorp Park Menangle last start.
She led throughout and rated 1:51.6.
"I was a bit worried heading into that race because she had not raced in five weeks but she went super," Grives said.
"She will racing in Victoria for a couple of weeks with the Breeders Crown Final at Melton at the end of month too."
Part-owned by Grives' husband Ryan, Ameretto has won 17 of her 39 starts and Grives has been the only person to drive the four-year-old in all her races.
This has aided Grives' record of steering 633 winners in her own career and it has also added to Grives 198 wins as a trainer, hence why they named their property 'Ameretto Park'.
It is even their domain name for their website www.amerettopark.com.au
Ameretto is one of three New South Wales mares aimed at this weekend's feature, with the John McCarthy-trained Cyclone Kate the $2.20 favourite and the Shane Tritton-trained Miss Riviera Bella a $9 chance.
