Talented three-year-old filly Sport Report will compete at Friday's Carnival of Cups meeting at Temora before heading back to Menangle to compete in the Raith Memorial. The daughter of Sportswriter has won four of her five career starts and is undefeated as a three year old after wins at Young and Bathurst.
Grenfell trainer Mark Hewitt is hoping to learn more about the filly on Friday night and believes her next two starts will decide how far she can go in her career.
"I'm really happy with her, she has won both of her starts as a three-year-old filly but I'll be interested to see whether she has a similar trait to a few of her close relations," Hewitt said.
"This is the third one of that family that I've had and the previous two have been a little bit aggressive in their racing pattern which tends to dictate how far they can go."
Hewitt confirmed that while Sport Report raced tractably last season there were signs that she was becoming too keen in her races this time in.
"She hasn't been as relaxed as I would like her to be and obviously if they are fighting you during the race it makes it harder to finish off the race full of running.
"I can't see her finding the front on Friday night but I will be going forward at the start in an attempt to find a position on the speed, I think it should be a pretty good test for her."
Sport Report won last season's NSW Breeders Challenge Blue Final for two year old fillies by seventeen metres at her only run at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
"She's got some big steps to take in her next few starts and hopefully she handles it all in her stride because she definitely has enough ability."
