Queensland trainer Ken Rattray will make the long trip to Sydney this week with two of his talented pacers despite the Gold Coast Cup being run in his home state. Destreos and Funny Boy will both compete at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night with Rattray acknowledging he is feeling some frustration in finding suitable races for his highly assessed runners.

"It hasn't been easy, Destreos competed in the Be Good Johnny Sprint behind Saucy Legend on Saturday night but he drew poorly and after that he didn't have any chance of winning while Funny Boy sat at home in his box because he didn't get a run in the race," Rattray said.

"So I made the decision to put the horses in at Menangle this week thinking that I would be able to secure them both a run and they would both be competing for really good money as well."

Funny Boy last raced on October 5 when he finished sixth behind Devil Dodger beaten eight metres in a mile rate of 1:53.3 and Rattray is very happy with his recent form.

"He is going as good as he ever has and he gets in really well as a $35,000 claimer on Saturday night, the race is for M2 to M3 pacers but he gets in under that claiming clause, I wish they had more of those here at home."

"Kelli Dawson will be making the trip to drive both horses as she has a good association with them."

Funny Boy has a great strike rate at Menangle having won three races on the 1400 metre circuit in the past.

"He won three in a row at Menangle in March 2011 but Destreos hasn't had much luck on the track, he has had five starts there and is yet to run a place but he has found himself in the right race on Saturday as well."

"Destreos has only just come back from a break and I think Saturday night's run at Albion Park would have tightened him up a little more, I think he will take some beating this week even though he has to make the long trip down there."
