"I was very happy with him and I actually gave him a good shot of winning on Sunday afternoon because I envisaged a very fast quarter and sometimes you draw up these maps and actually you get it right," McCall said.
"I thought the run might have flattened him a fraction because he did do a lot of work but he was back tearing around the paddock this morning so I put him in at Goulburn on Friday and I will back him up."
McCall believes his training schedule might help the son ofgoing forward.
"I don't know how far he will go but he will benefit from my training technique, he is a very aggressive horse when working."
"He's the sort of horse that trains himself because he is already pushing himself when he steps out to work, I won't do much with him at all this week before Goulburn. He will have three days off."
Western Rockstar is quite calm around the stables but is totally different when he hits the track.
"He is a bit of an oddball, even when I take him out before the race to warm up I only get about a half lap in before he bolts but around the barn he is quite relaxed."
"The owner has just sent me another horse but it is a trotter this time, Confused Superstar arrived the other day and I'm looking forward to working with him and giving him a few serious workouts"
Western Rockstar will compete in race 6 at Goulburn on Friday which is scheduled to begin at 3:09pm
