Popular New Brunswick catch-driver Mark Haig held the hot hands at Fredericton Raceway on Saturday as he registered a driving triple.

Haig played spoiler in the top-class as Todd Trites looked to be on his way to his 2000th career win with Joseph Michael but Haig got up to win with newcomer J Rs Hurricane.

Jean Belliveau owns the five-year-old son of Mach Three and he stopped the clock in 1:57.2 to record the fastest mile of the afternoon.

Haig's other wins came with Skippy in 1:58 and Nucoz Typhoon in 2:02.

Other winners on the eight-dash card included Ultimate Spirit for Stephen Trites ( 2:01 ), American Terror and Ed Harvey ( 2:00.3 ), trotter Justplainshea for John Stewart ( 2:02.2 ), Couleur Magnifique with Lonny Stokes ( 2:01.3 ) and D Gs Crosby for Phil Reid ( 2:02.2 ).

Todd Trites still needs that elusive single win to record his milestone of 2000-wins and will attempt the feat at Truro Raceway on Sunday.
