MANALAPAN, NJ -- March 27, 2014 -- Hall of Fame driver Cat Manzi is hanging up his driving colors after a 40-year career.
In an exclusive interview with Gen Sullivan for "Harness Racing Weekend Preview," Manzi acknowledged that he would accept a position with the Cancelliere Stable at Magical Acres.
"Usually all the other times [I was injured], I would just wait, work on it, get better and go on," he told Sullivan. "But I really can't take that chance anymore."
Manzi, 63, was in the multi-horse January 10, 2014 spill at Freehold and suffered multiple fractures and a punctured lung only a few weeks after returning from a pelvic fracture.
Manzi has career totals of 14,812 wins and $158 million in purses.
