CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Thursday evening belonged to the King of Island harness racing at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Marc Campbell made five visits to the winner's circle to continue his driving domination at the Capital oval including a mild upset with Incredible Hally in the $18,700 Blair Andrew Memorial stake.
The rookie trotting stake saw Mykindofparty (Driven by Gary Chappell) cut the early splits while Incredible Hally sat in the two-hole then angled out in the final panel to win in a new two-year-old trotting filly track record of 2:02.1. Mykindofparty was second while third went to a late closing Mack Truck (Gilles Barrieau).
Campbell trains the winning horse for owners Calvin Larkin of Mermaid, Erika Bradley of Charlottetown, Brian Fogarty of Stratford and Herbie MacDonald of Cardigan.
Campbell's other wins came with Tobins Choice (2:00.4) for trainer Gary Chappell, Charlottes Western (1:59.4) from his own stable, Scoot Out Of Here (1:58.1) for Vaughan Doyle and After The Lovin (1:59.2) from the Earl Watts stable.
It was a special family moment on the Thursday card as Brittany Watts celebrated her first lifetime win as a trainer on her first card of racing. Woodmere Chella supplied the winning performance in a lifetime best of 1:55.3 with Watts’ partner David Dowling in the bike for owner Valleygrove Farms of Kensington.
Julep Hanover delivered back to back winning performances taking the evening's finale for owner, trainer and driver Wade Myers.
