In a win for the entire trots industry, Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) and Harness Breeders Victoria (HBV) have signed a new sponsorship deal for season 2013/14.
The deal continues a long tradition of support from HBV to supporting mares races from the top of the industry right down to the grassroots.
Spread across 41 races, two races each and every month in the country will have an extra $500 prizemoney thrown in for connections, making it the perfect target race for any owner with a mare, be it pacing or trotting.
The naming rights to 17 of the best Mares races in the state will again be a feature of the sponsorship, and you can expect quality races like the Ladyship Cup, Make Mine Cullen, Richmond Lass and Lightfoot Laurels to all carry the HBV moniker.
HRV Chairman Ken Latta explained the importance of the relationship between the two bodies after signing the deal.
“Harness Breeders Victoria are one of the key industry supporters and at HRV we couldn’t be happier to have them on board again this year,” Latta said.
“They have an outstanding track record of promoting the female standardbred, and breeding aficionados alike and as we move forward into a new era of trotting they will continue to be industry leaders.”
Tony Britt, HBV President, was also pleased to have the deal signed off.
“The exposure we receive from partnering with Harness Racing Victoria is second to none. Our races are forefront in the minds of all participants - particularly those racing fillies and mares - and we look forward to working closely with HRV again this season,” Britt said.
“I was delighted to release on behalf of HBV this year’s Stallion Guide which is currently being mailed to breeders throughout Australasia. This outstanding publication will be essential reading for breeders as they select stallions for their mares.
“HBV will continue to support the industry we are so passionate about and we are excited about the future of one of Australia’s best sports.”
The first feature race with HBV naming rights will be Friday nights (September 13) Cinderella Stakes at Tabcorp Park Melton.
