Harrah's Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack has announced its 2014 live racing schedule, with the 150-program season slated to begin on March 14, 2014 (pending Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission approval). The opening Friday card carries a first post of 12:40 p.m., which will remain the standard starting time throughout the season. Unlike seasons past which saw a Spring-Summer meet and a Fall meet separated by a short break, the 2014 season will be contested as one continuous meet, concluding on Sunday, December 14.
From March through September, racing will take place four days a week, with a standard race week consisting of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday cards. Wednesdays are dropped from the schedule in October, and racing will continue through the fall on a three-day-a-week schedule.
As before, special Saturday cards (post time TBA) will be held in conjunction with the three Triple Crown Saturdays (May 3 and 17, June 7) and Breeders Cup Saturday (November 1). Likewise, special Monday programs (post time 12:40) are scheduled for Memorial Day (May 26), Labor Day (September 1), and Columbus Day (October 13).
