Dancing Diamonds and Blair Orange - returning to the Alexandra Park winner's enclosure

A high class field of 3 year old fillies will assemble for harness racing's Group 1 $100,000 Canterbury Breeders New Zealand Oaks timed to race at 8.35pm this Friday (May 18) at Addington

Nevele R Fillies Final winner O Baby lines up as well as threeof her stablemates from the Mark Purdon and Grant Payne stable - Dancing Diamonds, Living The Dream and Twist and Twirl. Drawn 4 behind the mobile O Baby has the best alley of the quartet with Dancing Diamonds out at barrier nine, Twist and Twirl one on the second line and Living The Dream at 13.

The fireworks should be on early over the 2600m journey with the talented Elusive Chick drawn handy at 3 one inside O Baby with high speed fillies Here We Go Again, Carpenters Daughter and Alchemist further out on the front line. Pemberton Shard, third in the Nevele R Final will appreciate the longer journey of the Oaks and should get a good run through from 2 on the second line.

Leading trainer Barry Purdon has the bang in form Cheer The Lady primed for a big run and with Precious Rose also engaged has a good chance of taking out the prestigious event.

The New Zealand Oaks first run in 1948 when taken out by Perpetua has been won by some wonderful fillies including the great Armalight in 1980 and her dam Ar Miss in 1972 as well as Robin Dundee, Hilarious Guest, Tigerish, Kate's First, Under Cover Lover, Elect To Live, Mainland Banner, One Dream, De Lovely and last year Carabella.

Which filly will join such an elite list at approximately 8.40pm Friday night remains to be seen with one of the most even Oaks' fields in recent times coming together.
