Trois-Rivieres, Quebec – The Hippodrome 3R begins Wednesday night live harness racing with first race post time at 7:00 pm. The last few seasons the track raced on Tuesday evenings and made the change to Wednesdays for the 2015 season.
“We surveyed our race fans and it was agreed to try Wednesday night live racing,” said Vincent Trudel, general manager at 3R. “Hopefully it will become popular with our fan base.”
To find out who is the leading breeder of Standardbred horses in Quebec, all one needs to do is look at the 4th race feature trot at the Hippodrome 3R on Wednesday.
There are five of the nine horses in the race bred by Les Ecuries SOS of Bedford, QC and five of the starters have SOS in their name which indicates that they were bred by the Les Ecuries farm.
Owned by Monalisa Pagliericci and Francine Morrissette, Les Ecuries has dominated the breeding ranks in Quebec for many years and have bred hundreds of racehorses.
The race favorite happens to not be a SOS bred horse. The honors fall upon Erge Jack from post seven for driver Pascal Berube. The seven-year-old roan mare by On The Sonny Side, has shown improvement since last season and despite being the older starter in the field could live up to her morning line odds.
Other contenders in the race include Force Naturelle (post 2), SOS Ticket Master (post 5) and SOS Masters Boy (post 8).
