Think you know horse racing? If so, over the next two months you can take part in The Horses $50,000 Handicapping Challenge. Starting this Saturday, August 11, 2012, qualifying events will take place at Northlands Park's off-track wagering locations. A total of 73 qualifiers will compete for $15,000 in the finals at Northlands Park on October 6, 2012.
At each of the 21 qualifying events, contestants must make $2 Win/Place wagers on ten races; the contestant with the most money at the end of the contest day will win the daily cash prize and receive a qualifying spot. An additional 27 qualifying spots are open for guests to purchase their way into the finals.
The entry fee is $100 ($60 entry fee and $40 live bankroll) and includes entrance into the contestant, programs and light snacks. At the end of each contest, the contestant keeps what is in their live bankroll account.
The first qualifying events are taking place this weekend:
- Saturday – Billy Budd’s – 1st Prize $1,500 and six qualifying spots available
- Sunday – River Cree Casino – 1st Prize - $1,000 and four qualifying spots available
- Sunday – Beverly Crest 1st Prize - $500 and one qualifying spot available
