Ideal Fame was the public's 1-9 harness racing favorite in the $33,800 Battle of Saratoga #2 final on Saturday night (October 20).

The sophomore pacer lived up to the hype, scoring a convincing win in the final despite being hounded every step of the way.

Ideal Fame (Western Ideal) dug in after being tested in a first half of :55.1 but was up to the task, stopping the timer in 1:55.3. Wally Hennessey drove the three year old for leading trainer Melissa Beckwith.

That tandem also won Friday night’s Battle of Saratoga #1 final with filly Dressedforthedance. Ideal Fame has now won seven times in his nine local tries. Carmens Best (Billy Dobson) was a sharp second on Saturday night while Escape Master (Jim Devaux) earned the show spot.

Sunday afternoon’s feature is the Battle of Saratoga #3 final being contested for a purse of $39,000 for young trotters. Matinee first post time is set for 12:45pm.
