Champion three-year-old Ignatius was awarded Tasmanian Harness Racing’s 2017/18 Horse Of The Year at Saturday night’s Annual Hall Of Fame and Awards Presentation Dinner at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Launceston.
The star pacer, owned by Lyrae Rattray (pictured with husband Todd), enjoyed another sensational season on the track winning 11 of his 13 starts, following his remarkable efforts as an outstanding two-year-old winning five of six appearances.
Bred by the Rattray Family Trust the Roll With Joe – Ashkalini gelding, trained by James Rattray is a Dual Group 1 winning performer, remarkably returning an identical sizzling mile-rate of 1.51:3 on both occasions.
Ignatius’ dam Ashkalini, bred and owned by The Rattray Family Trust, was named Broodmare Of The Year after another stellar season.
Popular Tasmanian Harness Racing participant Chester Bullock was honoured with the prestigious Edgar Tatlow Medal for his life-long dedication, service and commitment to many aspects of the industry including ownership, breeding, training, administration and sponsorship.
