The second stepping stone in the timeline for three year old harness racing pacers heading towards the 2016 Muscara Standardbreds New Zealand Derby to be run at Addington on Friday 8 April was Wednesday 20 January where by the First Withdrawal / Sustaining fee was due.
At this stage 27 horses still carry a nomination for the prestigious Group One Race that has a stake of $200,000.
One notable withdrawal is the unbeaten Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen trained (Our) Waikiki Beach for whom at present is campaigning in Australia and has some rather large assignments over the upcoming months.
The Rolleston based training partnership still have five runners in contention, spearheaded by the pre-race favourite Lazarus who is at a $2.20 quote on the fixed odds market with the TAB.
Second Withdrawal / Sustaining fee is due Wednesday 24 February 2016.
Any horse not nominated, may upon making the final late nomination fee of $5000 plus GST per horse become eligible.
This fee is due no later than 1pm New Zealand time on Monday 4 April.
