Big spending owner Emilio Rosati had one of his proudest moments in harness racing when his horses snared the quinella in tonight's (Saturday 23rd February) $50,000 Allied Express Rod Fitzpatrick Memorial at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
The classy Christian Cullen colt Allblack Stride seemed to do it all with ease when making a move from the running line to beat stablemate All Eyes On Us (Art Major), the $1.50 favourite, by more than a metre.
Horseman John McCarthy returned from the yearling sales in New Zealand to take the drive on the stable’s second stringer for his daughter in-law Belinda McCarthy, while his son Luke partnered All Eyes On Us.
Allblack Stride, a $75,000 purchase from last year’s New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale, rated a slick 1:55.9 to take out the $50,000 Group Two in wet conditions.
Rosati is hoping for a big week as he will start Excel Stride in next Sunday’s TAB.COM.AU Inter Dominion Grand Final at Menangle.
