The 2015 Queensland winter carnival starts this weekend. The metropolitan club will stage three feature nights of harness racing action on July 4, 11 and 18 with a total seven Group One to be held coupled with record prizemoney.
Features this weekend include the $100,000 Garrards Sunshine Sprint for open class performers and the inaugural running of the $100,000 Nursery Flying Stakes for three-year-olds.
The Nursery Flying Stakes is the ONLY Gr.1 event staged in the country at the distance of 1660m.
Gambling giant UBET are offering a raft of jackpots including a guaranteed $30,000 trifecta pool on the opening event.
And Trot Tips is keen to assist.
“What a card of racing we have this weekend; from top to bottom this meeting caters for everything with so many talented players involved, both human and equine. Classy mare How Will I Know has drawn perfectly and looks the one beat and her recent efforts have been very solid so I’m keen to work my bets around her.” Trot Tips Mick Polster said.
The opening race will be staged over the 1660m and features several in-form runners.
How Will I Know, prepared on-course by leading horseman Peter Greig, is a proven feature race performer and is looking to bounce into the winner’s circle following a spate of unlucky efforts.
“From the inside gate, How Will I Know provides Peter Greig will several options because she has the necessary speed to hold up from the inside or take cover and end up with a perfect trail. Her sectionals have been very impressive when chasing home very much in-form runners Alleluia and Joys A Babe.
“Monarkmac is an interesting runner who rejoins the strong stable of Grant Dixon and his recent trial on this track was sound and I’m prepared to respect him because his record at this track is solid while Hugh Hefner and Franco Revel also have good claims.
“Other place chances go to Ideal Situation, Blazing Terror, Alta Capone and Horace Foxley. I will work my trifecta combinations with these runners and play for varying amounts, this pool will grow quickly and punters should take advantage of it.”
UBET also have a Quadrella carryover of $13,000 plus a $2000 First 4 jackpot on race 3 and $1000 First 4 jackpots on races 5 and 7.
“In the feature events; I’m keen on the chances of Victorian pacer Burnaholeinmypocket in the Nursery Flying Stakes and local hero Avonnova in the Sunshine Sprint,”
“Both races will be run at a very high speed and look fascinating contests, more info on these races can be found on my website.”
