Solid harness racing action took place May 4 at Solvalla Racecourse that showcased the Iceland’s Race for 60,000SEK first money over the 2140 meter autostart distance. Favorite Je t’Aime Express (5g Symphonic Hanover-Je t’Aime Marion-Sugarcane Hanover) at .34/1 for trainer Peter Untersteiner prevailed clocked in 1.13.3kr. 5/1 Al Dente (5m Scarlet Knight-Mottie’s Photo-SJ’s Photo) took second for Kenneth Haugstad with third to 23/1 Ruby Trap (5f Explosive Matter-Ruby Crown-Incredible Nevele) for Stefan Melander. The latter is a half-sister to Scarlet Knight.

Three year-olds contested the Ingdende Kriterium (200,000SEk to the winner, 2140 meters autostart) and the favorite at 3/10 odds scored in 1.14.2kr. Makethemark (3m Maharajah-Global Naughty-Conway Hall) was reined by Ulf Ohlsson, trained by Petri Salmela and is owned by Stall Nian. The winner recorded his fourth straight victory and 10th in 12 career starts. 27/1 Monark Newman (3m Orlando Vici-Lady Value-Alf Palema) was second for trainer/driver Frederik Persson and 9/2 Chocolate Gold (3m Chocolatier-Shella Gold-Good As Gold) took third for Erik Adielsson and trainer Svante Bath.

At Aby the Euro Classic Next Year (35,000SEK first prize, 2140 meters autostart) went to the 1.15.6kr timed, 14/1 Tour Knight (3f Scarlet Knight-She’s Cool Too-Victory Zodiac) with Stefan Soderkvist up. 29/1 Balotelli (3g END Snapshot-Pearsall Delivery-Pearsall Hanover) took second money for Thomas Ohrberg and 2.4/1 Blue Night (3m Ganymede-Leva Loppan-Express Ride) was third for Jeppe Juel.

Saturday’s V75 card is at Orebro and it’s a good one. The Gold Division for 150,000SEK first money over 1609 meters autostart has Magic Tonight in the fray with Orjan Kihlstrom up. He will face, among others, Smilin Deli, Spring Erom, Cool Keeper and Quid Pro Quo. The 125,000SEK first prize Silver Division has Coldtown (by Cantab Hall), Global Patriot and Nadal Broline (by Yankee Glide) at the start. The latter has posted seven wins in the last nine starts. Top mares will battle in a 2100 meter autostart event for 100,000SEK first money. Britt Hudson, Bethel Hanover, Stylish Hanover and My Guiding Ange l are among the starters, leading to the Gr. II International Orebro Stayerlopp for 400,000SEK to the winner of that 3140 meter distance handicap race. Coco de Vie, Swing Kronos and Opitergium are in that field.
