As is often the case when he comes to town, driver Jim Morrill Jr dominated the harness racing action at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Friday night.

There were four New York Sire Stakes Excelsior Series Finals for two year olds on Friday and Morrill was the evening’s sulky star. Ronny Bugatti (Art Major) went wire to wire, overcoming his outside post to prevail in the $45,000 final for freshman pacing colts and geldings.

The Tom Haughton trained two year old cruised in 1:55, starting a stretch of five straight races in which Morrill would pilot winners on the card. Mollie Mile (American Ideal) scored in 1:56 in the pacing fillies division for Morrill and trainer Steve Elliott.

The 47 year old reinsman won his third of the Excelsior Finals behind trotting filly Americash Express (Cash Hall) for conditioner Mark Ford. The fourth stakes final saw Imwideawake (Turbonator) prevail in career best fashion with driver Jim Devaux in the bike.

Imwideawake recorded the open length score in 2:00 for trainer Andrew Byler. The program was the final NY Sire Stakes competition for the season at the Spa.

Live racing continues on Saturday night with first post time set for 7:05pm.
