Canada's Jody Jamieson captured the $10,000 prize in the first leg of the Tioga/Meadowlands Drivers' Championship on Saturday night with 23 points earned over four competition races. Hot off his sweep of the World Driving Championship, Jamieson is now in the best position to land the $25,000 grand prize in the final round of the harness racing contest on Sunday, August 28 at Tioga Downs.

Brian Sears and Yannick Gingras are tied for second with 20 points each heading into the final leg. Completing the first round standings are George Brennan (13), Tim Tetrick (11), Ron Pierce (10), Dave Miller (10), Andy Miller (1) and Ed Hensley (1).

"These drivers are the best in the world and it's a pleasure to be given the opportunity to come down here and race against them," Jamieson said.

The drivers will carry their accumulated points into the final round of competition at Tioga. The point system is as follows: 1st place-10 points, 2nd place-7 points, 3rd place-5 points, 4th place-3 points, and 5th place-1 point. In addition to the $25,000 top prize, the winner will receive a Tom Harmer Evolution Race Bike and a commemorative ring from Bow River Jewelry.

Post time for the Sunday, August 28 card at Tioga Downs is 1:30 p.m. The festivities begin with a driver autograph session at 12 p.m. Fans will receive a Tim Tetrick bobblehead, commemorative t-shirt and poster, while supplies last.
