The jury is still out on who is the best harness racing open class pacer in South Australia - Come On Frank or Mark Dennis?
Come on Frank a 6 year old son of Blissful Hall has won 33 races from 67 starts including the Group 1 Vicbred Super Series as a 4 year old at Melton and has recorded a 1.52.3 winning mile rate when campaigning in NSW on the 1,400 meter Menangle Park circuit.
Come On Frank this season the local hero has had 10 starts for 3 wins coming off a 14 month lay off through injury.
In the blue corner the challenger Mark Dennis a 5 year old gelding by88 starts for 21 wins 11 of those this season, Mark Dennis has become a revelation since joining stable claiming the Gawler Cup and setting a track record at Betezy Park Globe Derby when he beat Come On Frank in a mile rate of 1.54.2.
Saturday night did little to solve the debate as who is the current king of SA Harness Racing.
Come On Frank lead from barrier one in the Free For All in a mile rate of 1.58.9 while Holberton elected to tackle the 4 and 5 year old BOTRA pace and after a horrid run when caught three wide he finshed a credible third.
Maybe next week will tell the story as both chase BOTRA bonuses on BOTRA Pace Final night.
