The Yorke Peninsula Harness Racing Club has been rewarded with an excellent field for Friday night's Kadina Pacing Cup meeting at Port Pirie. This year the Club decided to change its cup distance to 1609m to make it the state's number one speed test.
Heading up the field for the $10,000 feature will be local hero Come On Frank, who ran third last week in his first run from a spell. He has drawn the inside gate, while Mark Dennis, which is drawn to be prominent in barrier four, looks well placed on recent form.
Timeless Era, who has performed strongly in SA this season, along with Our Flyin Jazz, also pose as serious threats in what should be keenly run affair, with the track record of 1.55.5 held by Rioli Lloyd Gold possibly under threat.
The Harley Meier Memorial Kadina Trotters Cup, a $6,000 event, will also be run over the mile trip and it features Fred Jones Country Trotters Cup winner, Siegfried.
Both Chuck Wagon and Kasyanov look better off under the free for all conditions compared to last week's race.
As our top trotters rarely run over this trip, it will be interesting to see what time they can run.
The Club has drawn together a strong supporting card, with all races set down to be run over the mile on this "night of speed".
SA BOTRA has supported all of the Country Cup meetings with BOTRA Bonus races again this season; for this meeting it is a C2 - C3 front, also eligible to claimers up to $2,000. Should the winner be owned by BOTRA member/s, a $500 bonus will be paid by BOTRA. It is race 3 on the program.
Racing will commence at 6.50pm, with all races covered on Sky Racing 1. The Pacers Cup is race 5 starting at 8.50pm, with the Trotters Cup race 7 at 9.52pm.
For those who can't make it to the track, Tattsbet will be offering full coverage of the meeting. This will include fixed odds markets on all races.
