Locharburn looked strong winning his latest harness racing trial at Rangiora today.
In the hands of world champion driver Dexter Dunn he began well then whipped around to lead with 1700m to go.
Once in front the big 6yo horse by Christian Cullen was way too good in the run home and won easily without Dexter having to get too urgent up the home straight.
The winning time of 3:18.6 for the 2600m stand was very quick in the cold and windy conditions and his last 800m of 56.3 seconds was easily the quickest of the day.
Locharburn is currently 4th in the cup rankings and is a $9.00 chance in the New Zealand Cup market at the TAB. Locharburn is likely to have his first start in the Maurice Holmes Vase at Addington on September 2
