Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner L A Delight scored another impressive victory Thursday night at the harness racing meeting at Mohawk Racetrack in second leg action of the Whenuwishuponastar Series.
A field of seven rookie pacing fillies squared off in the $12,000 second round of the three-week series event.
The Bob McIntosh trainee L A Delight, who did not compete in round one, was made the heavy 1/5 favourite over leg one winner Shes Lights Out.
The round one winner sprinted to the front for driver Paul MacDonell in Thursday's contest, while L A Delight and driver Randy Waples got away just behind in second.
Shes Lights Out set fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:26.2 with L A Delight waiting patiently in the pocket for the stretch drive.
In the stretch, L A Delight powered by Shes Lights Out on the outside and cruised home under a hand drive from Waples to win by 2 ½ lengths in 1:54.
Shes Lights Out battled to the wire to finish second, while Bad Lightning, who was green behind the gate and got away sixth, finished third.
A daughter of Bettors Delight, L A Delight is the third foal out of the talented pacing filly West Of L A and is a half-sister to the $632,000 winning gelding Somewhere In L A.
L A Delight is owned and bred by Robert McIntosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables and Al McIntosh Holdings Inc.
The rookie pacing filly now has three wins from four starts for earnings of $51,680.
A $2 win ticket on L A Delight paid $2.40.
The final of the Whenuwishuponastar Series will take place next Thursday (August 6).
