Lindell “Lenny” L. Burgess, 64, passed away on Sunday (June 26) at his Illinois farm.
Burgess was a long-time Standardbred breeder and a member of the Illinois Harness Horsemen’s Association and U.S. Trotting Association.
In addition to his interest in horses and his farm, he was an accomplished musician, and played in Nashville as backup to many Country and Western stars. He also owned a construction company.
He was survived by his ex-wife and friend, Catherine Burgess; his children, Justin Burgess, Steve Burgess, and Kathy Perez; a granddaughter, Ashley Burgess; a sister, Marie (Dave) Carlen, Sr.; a brother, William (Judy) Burgess; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; a sister, Shirley Burgess Lahey; and one niece preceded him in death.
Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday, June 30, between 4.00 pm and 9.00 pm (CDT), at the Dieterlie Funeral Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, Ill.
Services will be held on Thursday at 7.30 pm at the funeral home and interment will be private.
