Adelaide baker and hobby breeder Jack Panagiotou will have mixed feelings when his Roll With Joe colt enters the sale ring at Globe Derby Park on Sunday, March 14.
Lot 5 in the Silver Salver South Australian Yearling Sale, the grand looking youngster is the last foal out of Jack’s successful race and broodmare Kiss Me Monty.
“I bought her at the SA sales at Morphettville in 2000. She was the first horse I ever raced,” Jack, who formerly trained and drove her, said.
At the stud, Kiss Me Monty has produced eight foals of racing age for four winners and two placegetters. They include Milliondollar Kiss, a heat winner of last year’s Allwood and third in the $100,000 Final, Montana’s Jet (1:55.7), a winner of 11 races, the Southern Cross 2YO heat winner Kissed By A Shark and Bad Boy Blues, a placegetter in the Sale Graduate race.
Rustlin A Kiss, an unraced daughter of Kiss Me Monty, ranks as the dam of the good Melton winners Whats In The Esky 1:53.1 ($100,933) and Goodtime Rusty 1:54.3 ($91,963).
Jack has retained the ownership of three of Kiss Me Monty’s daughters, Milliondollar Kiss, Kiss And Grin and the two-year-old Betterthan A Kiss, who won a trial at Mount Gambier recently.
The colt is heavily staked for his two, three and four-year-old racing. Besides the $50,000 Sale Graduate race, he has been nominated for the Southern Cross, Vicbred, Vicbred Platinum and Breeders Crown.
He is being prepared by Mandy Pascoe, of Ningana Park, Birdwood.
