Leading sires represented at Melbourne sale

Harness racing sire-of-the-moment Bettor's Delight heads an impressive list of stallions with progeny in the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale to be held at the William Inglis Complex, Oaklands Junction on Sunday, March 14.

Bettor's Delight, who stands at Woodlands Stud, near Auckland, has four lots - two colts and two fillies - in the sale.

The Little Brown Jug winner P Forty Seven (11 lots) and triple Inter Dominion champion Our Sir Vancelot (9 lots) have the strong representation.

Another Little Brown Jug winner, Life Sign, has seven entries.

Inter Dominion hero and highly promising sire Elsu is represented by three colts and three fillies with all being out of either winner or winner-producing mares.

Millionaire racehorse Metropolitan, Lombo Mandingo and trotting sire Pegasus Spur have four nominations each.

Art Major, last season's record-breaking juvenile sire, has a colt and a filly in the sale.

Other stallions with multiple representation are the defunct Oye Vay (3 lots), Modern Art, and Armbro Operative, Blissfull Hall, Union Guy, Saab, JR Mint, Sealed N Delivered and trotting sires Earl and Sierra Kosmos with two apiece.

Metropolitan, Shark Gesture, Lombo Mandingo, JR Mint, It Is I and Oye Vay will all be represented by their first Australian crop.

Mares in-foal to many of the world's leading stallions will be offered as part of the Lemon Tree Dispersal Sale at Oaklands Junction on Saturday, March 13.

Life Sign, the 2009 Victorian Juvenile Sire of the Year, has eight mares in the catalogue carrying positive tests to him.

The 2008 US 2YO Colt of the Year Major Art has seven, while champion sire Mach Three has four and his world record-breaking son, Somebeachsomewhere, three.

Leading broodmare sire Troublemaker and Art Major both have two mares covered by them, while Courage Under Fire, Grinfromeartoear, Real Desire, Armbro Operative and Bacardi Lindy all have one.
